The Ardnamurchan High School, (Àrd-sgoil Àird nam Murchan), was opened in 2002 and is one of the most modern and best-equipped schools in the country. It occupies the same building as the Sunart Centre, (Àrainn Shuaineirt) - a thriving community centre - and shares the fine facilities, including a magnificent concert venue, conference facilities and a branch of the Highland Library.

The school is a real Gaelic hub and delivers several subjects in the language. There is a pro-active culture within the school and Gaelic is strongly supported.

Since its inception, the Ardnamurchan High School has been a community school with a real focus on meeting a wide range of educational needs, incorporating community links and involvement wherever possible.

The wider community on Ardnamurchan has a great sense of pride in the school and the resources on offer and has watched the school grow and the range of experiences on offer expand considerably.

The school, the Sunart Centre, and the Library (Leabharlann) provide a growing range of lunchtime and after-school extra curricular activities, such as active involvement in sports and the arts. Evening youth clubs run for seniors and juniors respectively and our latest project for the Duke of Edinburgh award in S3 is supported on these evenings. Many of the evening concerts and events run by Àrainn Shuaineirt are of value and interest to all ages and active participation is encouraged. In addition, the Lochaber Outreach Learning Centre and Community Education have a presence in the building.

The Àrainn Shuaineirt Management Committee (ASMC), a voluntary community group, oversee the community access and use of the building. There is a dedicated Centre Development Co-ordinator, who can be contacted via the Sunart Centre website.
